Service may also collect and/or disclose information to third parties such as advertisers and business partners. Service provider may also unilaterally change the licensing, terms of usage or privacy settings. For example grading information and evaluation, research plans, development information, personal information (PII), financial information (e.g. business or other IPR) and information containing archiving responsibilities are not suitable for level C services. University's has no ability or legal mandate to manage the stored information in case of any problem situations. Such cases can be for example employers death or service provider's bankruptcy.

NB! Classifications in Cloud Guide pages concern only so-called consumer services, cloud services personally adopted by the user. The services adopted by the University (possibly with a separate agreement) may have different implementation and terms of use.

Evaluation

  • iMessage and FaceTime can be used without registering an Apple ID (and without agreeing to Terms of Use), if the service is activated on an iOS device with only the telephone number used as user identification.
  • Service provider is located outside of Finnish Act for Privacy of Electronic Communications (Controller: Apple Ireland, Processor: Apple USA)

Messaging and video/audio is end-to-end encrypted, keys are exchanged via Apple's proprietary global device directory. Apple is technically able to insert additional third-party encryption keys of required by law, but it is not mentioned in the description whether Apple does so. The enrcyption model itself can be considered safe. Attached files and photos are encrypted and saved into iCloud. The key and address are sent as an iMessage to recipient(s).
