Service is not suitable for all use cases. Services may also collect and/or disclose information to third parties such as advertisers and business partners. Service provider may also unilaterally change the licensing, terms of usage or privacy settings. For example grading information and evaluation, research plans, development information, personal information (PII), financial information (e.g. business or other IPR) and information containing archiving responsibilities are not suitable for level C services. University's has no ability or legal mandate to manage the stored information in case of any problem situations. Such cases can be for example employers death or service provider's bankruptcy. Service provider can unilaterally change terms of service and privacy.

NB! Classifications in Cloud Guide pages concern only so-called consumer services, cloud services personally adopted by the user. The services adopted by the University (possibly with a separate agreement) may have different implementation and terms of use.


SlideShare is a cloud service for slide sharing. Supported file formats are PowerPoint, PDF, Keynote and OpenOffice. Users can share files privately or publicly. SlideShare also provides users possibility to rate, comment, and share link to the slideshow.

SlideShare is a service mostly focused on presenting representations and utilizing them in educational purposes for example. SlideShare is broadly used service especially in higher education institutions.

Viewing other user’s presentations registration is not needed unlike uploading own material.

Services primary purpose is a slide hosting service but it also provides users ability to comment and share the content on the site. Presentations can be uploaded to the site publicly or privately. Site modifies uploaded material automatically suitable format in browser. User can download presentations in PDF format. Uploader of the material is able to determine the time period how long particular presentation is available for viewers.

Ownership of the material uploaded on the site remains user. However, SlideShare reserves the right to use uploaded materials for promotion uses. After a termination of the user account all the material will be destroyed.

SlideShare is participant of the Safe Harbor Program between EU and United States.
