Google Drive is a file storage service. User can upload, store and share files and synchronize files between different devices. Service can be used with a browser or with client software on computers, tablet computers and smart phones.

Files can created and edited using Google Docs functionality (documents, spreadsheets and presentations).

There are limitations in file sharing. Service's funding model is "freemium". Free storage space is 15 GB, after which the service is subject to a charge. The service can also be used as a part of Google Apps company account, although the service is primarily for consumers.

Supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer. Workstation applications are available for Windows and Mac computers. Supported mobile devices are Android devices and iOS devices (iPhone, iPad).

Google has unified the majority of its services (Gmail, Google Drive, Google+, YouTube) under a single Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Google collects vast amounts of information of the users which it uses to tailor advertising to single specific users. The collected information includes device information, log information, location information, unique application numbers, local storage and cookies. With the use of cookies, Google also tracks users on other websites.
Registration asks to input first name, last name, birthday and gender in addition to creating the username and password.

(plus) User retains ownership of any intellectual property rights to uploaded content.
(plus) User is able to influence on what information is shared to other users.
(plus) / (minus)Notices of changes are posted by 14 days in advance, but only on Terms of Service page.
(minus) Google receives a license to use all uploaded content in current and future services. This license continues even if you stop using the service.
(minus) Google collects vast amounts of information of the users.
(minus) Google tracks users on other websites.
(minus) Google can share personal information with the consent of the user. Google can also share or publish aggregated data that does not identify a person.
