Metadata
The Haka federation metadata contains the federation’s home organizations and services.
Metadata updates are announced to home organizations and services by email, Subscribe here. According to the decision of the Haka technical group, metadata must be updated within 24 hours of publication.
The Haka operator aims to publish new metadata once a week, usually on Wednesdays. The metadata includes a validUntil attribute, which indicates when the metadata expires. Expired metadata must not be used. In Haka, metadata is valid for a maximum of four weeks from publication.
When you notify the Haka operator about a change in your entity’s metadata, please note that the change will only take effect with the next metadata publication. After the publication, it will take another 24 hours before all other entities have retrieved the new metadata.

Metadata verification
Authenticity of the metadata MUST be verified before using. The certificate to check the authenticity can be found on this page. Also the validity of the metadata MUST be verified. Expired metadata MUST NOT be used.
Using HTTPS-URL is not sufficient way to ensure metadata authenticity. Authenticity can be verified only by checking XML-signature of the metadata.
