Sherpa Romeo is a service maintained by Jisc which describes the archiving policy of the publisher or journal of a publication.

Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

DOAJ is a directory developed through international cooperation for indexing peer-reviewed open access journals. The service is maintained by a non-profit organisation named Infrastructure Services for Open Access C.I.C.

What does the indexing tell us? The entire content of journals indexed in DOAJ is immediately and openly accessible. The journals must have an ISSN ID, an editor-in-chief and/or editorial board, an evaluation process and a website with comprehensive background information (such as guidelines for authors, author payments, information on open accessibility and copyrights).

Bielefeld University Gold OA

A list of publication channels that are openly available immediately upon publication (Gold OA). The list is produced by the Bielefeld University. Data sources include the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), PubMed Central, OpenAPC and the Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources (ROAD).

Journal.fi

A journal management and publishing service provided by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.

What does the indexing tell us? Journals indexed in the Journal.fi are Finnish scientific journals. The Journal.fi includes journals that are immediately open access and journals with embargo.

VIRTA Publication Information Service 

A data hub that complies bibliographic information of all scientific publications from Finnish universities, universities of applied sciences, state research institutes and university hospital districts. VIRTA data hub is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and maintained by the CSC – IT Center for Science.

What does the indexing tell us? The publication channels indexed include articles defined openly available in Open Access publication channels (Virta Gold), hybrid channels (Virta Hybrid), or publication channels that allow self-archiving (Virta Green) in the data collection of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Please note that the data may contain mistakes.

Web of Science (WoS)

WoS is a service owned by Clarivate Analytics which contains reference and citation data. Its best-known products are Science Citation Index Expanded, Arts & Humanities Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index. WoS has the best coverage in the fields of natural sciences and medicine.

What does the indexing tell us? In the lists of WoS Core Collection, all indexed journals are peer-reviewed, targeted to an international audience, regularly published and meet the ethical editorial standards. A minimum requirement for journals is that the descriptions at least must be provided in English. Scopus

Scopus is the reference and citation database maintained by Elsevier. Containing more than 21,000 peer-reviewed journals, more than 4,000 of which are openly accessible, Scopus is more comprehensive than WoS.

What does the indexing tell us? The journals are peer-reviewed, and their peer review practices and publication ethical guidelines are publicly available. ERIH PLUS

ERIH PLUS is a database that focuses on social sciences and humanities. In 2014, the responsibility for the maintenance of the database was transferred from the European Science Foundation to NSD (Norsk senter for forskningsdata).
What does the indexing tell us? Journals accepted to the ERIH PLUS database are peer-reviewed and have an editorial staff of expert members and a registered ISSN ID. The abstracts of scholarly articles must be available in English or another language relevant for the field.
