1. Check with from HOPS if there is a separate course for language studies or if it is part of a wider course. If the language does not have its own course, add the required course(s) to your HOPS from the ones below (see Pic 1 & Pic 2)

2. In the top bar, select ACCREDITATION OF LEARNING (HOT)

3. Choose +New application

4. Basic information

• As the data mark the date of the guidance discussion or the date of the application.
• Select a person for the guidance discussion.
• In the Additional information field, you can also mention other people with whom you have discussed applying for exemption.
• Click Save

     5. Adding place(s) of completion and acquired skill(s)

• • A place of completion is mandatory. Do not add certificates as they may contain sensitive information. Present the certificates directly to the examiner.
  • Click Exemption from language studies

     6. Add the studies from which you seek exemption

• • Choose the course from which you seek exemption.
  • Choose the reason for the exemption: Special reasons, I received my schooling in a language other than Finnish or Swedish or I received my schooling abroad
  • Justification:
    • Mention your language of education.
    • Mention the courses you plan to complete instead of the studies you seek exemption from (the scopes are the same) or a presentation of the completion of a separate study of the language of working life
    • If the language study is part of a wider course in your HOPS, state the code, name and total scope of that course as well as the scope of its language section.
    • Do not mention any sensitive information.
    • Choose as the handler the head of the degree programme.
  • Click Save

7. Click Submit application
